The Glass Ballerina

In the opening flashback, young Sun accidentally knocks over a figurine of a glass ballerina, which shatters on the floor. She tells her furious father that the maid did it - and the maid is promptly fired. Cut to several years later: Sun - while married to Jin - is having an affair with her English teacher, Jae Lee. As the lay in bed together one afternoon, Sun's father bursts in and sees his daughter in bed with another man. He is apoplectic. Sun's father goes to Jin and tells Jin to kill Jae Lee - though he says it's because Jae was stealing from him. Jin visits Jae Lee, but can't bring himself to kill him, so he beats him badly and tells him to flee the country. As Jin leaves, though, and gets into his car, Jae's body crashes into the car, having either fallen from above or been pushed.

Sayid, Sun, and Jin have launched a rescue party to find their kidnapped friends. They go out on the sailboat, and Sayid plots to light a fire to lure the Others into an ambush. Sun waits on the boat while Jin and Sayid start the fire on a dock, but the Others are one step ahead and sneak onboard the boat. One of the Others corners Sun, who panics and shoots her in the stomach when she realizes the woman knows her name and who she is.

Back at the Others' camp, Kate and Sawyer are hauling and breaking rocks for a mysterious project. Ben confronts Jack and tells him that if he 'cooperates,' he will be sent back home, off the island. Ben also reveals to a shocked Jack that The Others are still in touch with the outside world, showing him footage of the Red Sox winning the world series, among other news items.
