Sun is working in her garden when Jack visits to ask how her pregnancy is progressing. He makes a point of asking whether she has experienced any sickness or bleeding. Sun is suspicious of his questioning.
Sun's flashback sees her as newly wed talking to Jin on her mobile phone telling each other how much they love one another. As they say their goodbyes Sun sits next to woman on a park bench. The woman opens a paper and points to their wedding picture asking if she is the woman in photograph and is she is Mr Paik's daughter. Sun tells her that she is. The strange old woman asks Sun how ashamed her husband would be if anyone found out that he was the son of a fisherman and that his mother was a prostitute. She demands that Sun return in three days with one hundred thousand dollars or she will reveal the truth.
Desmond, Jin, Hurley and Charlie are mystified as to who the new island arrival is. She semi consciously mumbles in several languages. Hurley identifies one of her sentences as Spanish and translates that she is going to die. They inspect her and find that she has a tree branch embedded in her side.
On the beach Sun questions Kate about Jack's interest in her pregnancy and wonders if he can be trusted anymore. Kate decides to tell Sun about Juliette, the others and their interest in babies for research. Sun immediately confronts Juliette and asks what happens to pregnant women on the island. Juliette tells her that they die.
Desmond insists on going back to the beach to get Jack when out of the jungle appears Mikhail, who it was believed died when pushed into the other's defence system.
Despite trying to run he is captured by Jin. He tells them that he understands what the woman is saying and has medical training. He agrees to help her is they let him go.
Sun tracks down Jin's father and meets with him. He pleased to see her but when asked why he lied about Jin's mother dying he tells her that she was with many men and he was not sure if he was Jin's father but who would raise him? He asks Sun not to tell Jin they met and to save Jin the shame of where he came from.
Juliette wakes Sun in the middle of night. She tells her that she can help if Sun comes with her to find out the date of conception. If the baby was conceived off the island, Sun will be ok.
In the next flash back Sun asks her father for one hundred thousand dollars. When he demands to know what this is for she refuses to tell. Eventually she reveals that it to spare someone she loves great shame. Her father guesses that this is for Jin and tells her that he will bare the debt and will no longer work in his factory but directly for him. Sun gives the old woman the money but warns her that should she reveal anything about Jin she will get her father will find out. Sun finally asks why she didn't tell her that she was Jin's mother.
Juliette leads Sun to the Staff hatch filled with baby furniture. This is where the mothers were brought to die. Juliette prepares to perform an ultrasound while Sun confessed that she is faced with a difficult dilemma. If the baby was conceived before she arrived on the island she will live but the baby will be from her affair with Jae. If the baby was conceived on the island she is sure to face to death but the baby will be Jin's. She finds out that the baby is Jin's but tells Juliette that it is good news.
As they leave the Staff, Juliette says that she is going back down to ensure they covered their tracks. While down their she leaves a message on a Dictaphone, " "Ben, it's 6 am on Saturday morning. Kwon is pregnant; the foetus is healthy and was conceived on island with her husband, he was sterile before they got here. I'm still working on getting samples from the other women. I should have Austen's soon. I'll report back when I know more." But off the record, she says, "I hate you."
The parachutist wakes up and wants to know where she is and who they are:
Parachutist: Who are you?
Hurley: Hugo Reyes. I crashed here on Oceanic Flight 815. A bunch of us survived. Is that why you're here? Were you looking for us?
Parachutist: 815. Flight 815, the one from Sydney?
Hurley: Yeah!
Parachutist: No, that's not possible.
Hurley: Yeah, I know. It wasn't easy, but we found food and a hatch and more food
Parachutist: No. No, Flight 815. They-- they found the plane. There were no survivors. They were all dead.
