The Brig

Kate leaves Sawyer's tent in the middle of the night claiming that she prefers to sleep alone. Sawyer decides to take a toilet break in the jungle, while there he hears a rustling in the bushes. He aims his gun in anticipation and is confronted by Locke. He tells Sawyer that he has kidnapped Ben and wants Sawyer to kill him. When Sawyer asks why Locke doesn't do it he claims that Sawyer will want to kill him when he hears what Ben has to say.

We flashback to 8 days ago when Locke is confronted with his father that 'appeared' in the black box. Ben tells Locke that they are going away and asks if he would like to come with them. Locke agrees.

Desmond strongly believes that Jack can't be trusted and asks Charlie, Jin and Hurley not to tell him about injured parachuter. Back in the jungle Sawyer follows Locke but is confused why Locke believes he would want to murder him.

Flashback to 3 days ago. Locke is with the Other's at their make shift camp. He overhears Ben listening to Juliette's taped message. Ben reveals that she is collecting information on pregnant women in the camp and they will eventually take them. Ben stands up, something which he has been able to do since Locke joined him. He tells Locke that he wants to tell him what the Island can really do but feels that Locke still isn't ready. We see that Locke's Dad 'Cooper' is tied to a post in the middle of the camp. Ben tells Locke that when people join them on the island they have to make a gesture. He wants Locke to kill his father so that he can be free from his hold.

The parachute woman who we learn is called Naomi Dorritn tells Sayid that the wreckage of Oceanic flight 815 was found under water with all the bodies still inside. She says that she is part of a search team hired by Penelope Widmore to find Desmond. Sayid takes the satellite phone to get it working. He takes it outside and is discovered by Kate. Sayid asks her not to tell Jack about it.

Locke leads Sawyer to the black rock. There is a brig, inside which is a man tied up in another room. Sawyer takes the sack from the man's head and sees that it isn't Ben. At this point Locke slams the door shut on them. Cooper reveals that Locke is his son and that he was driving down the freeway in Tallahassee when a car hit him from behind that caused him to crash. The last thing he remembered was the paramedic smiling at him. When he awoke he tied up and saw his dead son. When Sawyer questions why he said dead, Cooper tells him that he died in a plane crash. The wreckage was found containing all the bodies and tells sawyer that they must be in hell. As the conversation wears on he reveals how he conned Locke out of a kidney. Sawyer asks him what is name is. Cooper runs through is list of alias' including Tom Sawyer.

Richard Alpert tells Locke that Ben is threatened by Locke and that he doesn't want the other's to think he is special. He continues that they are on the island for a greater purpose but Locke's father has to die before they can move on. He tells Locke that if he can't do it perhaps someone else will and hands Locke a file on Sawyer.

Kate decides to go against the camp's wishes and tells Jack about Naomi.

Sawyer discovers that Cooper is the man who destroyed his family, the man he has been searching for all his life. Cooper's response is one of dismissal and claims that it isn't his fault if Sawyer's dad decided to kill his mother and his self. Blinded with rage, Sawyer strangles Cooper with an iron chain. Locke thanks Sawyer and tells him that Cooper had it coming. He then reveals that Juliette is a mole spying for Ben. He leaves carrying his father's body on shoulders claiming to be on his own journey.
