Something Nice Back Home

Open on the beach. Jack is disoriented when Juliet wakes him up. He walks out of his tent to find Rose & Bernard, Sun & Jin, and Daniel & Charlotte. Bernard is arguing with Daniel about the satellite phone - Daniel says it's not working, and Bernard thinks he's lying. Jack shouts that Daniel & Charlotte have been lying to them all along. He says the freighter people will return to get Daniel & Charlotte at some point, though, and the Losties will be ready for them. Suddenly, Jack gets dizzy and faints.

FLASHFORWARD: Jake is awoken by a phone call - it's his receptionist reminding him about an appointment he has with a patient. Jack gets out of bed and walks into the bathroom, where there is a woman taking a shower - it's Kate. Later, Jack is reading a story to Aaron. Kate sees them and smiles. Jack says his dad used to read him the same story. Kate says it's good to hear Jack say nice things about his dad - Jack says sarcastically that his dad was "a good storyteller." They kiss.

Back at the beach, Jack comes to and tells Juliet that he has food poisoning - but she's not buying it.

In the jungle, Sawyer, Claire (with baby Aaron), and Miles are walking through the brush, when suddenly Miles says "who are Danielle & Karl?" He looks down and finds their bodies buried in shallow graves. Sawyer accuses Miles' group of freighter people of killing them, but Miles says he's not on the same team as those guys - he "didn't sign up for this." Sawyer guides Claire away, saying everything will be fine once they get back to the beach.

Meanwhile, at the beach, Jack confesses that his appendix might rupture - Juliet says they have to operate as soon as possible. Juliet tells Sun & Jin to go to the medical station and get supplies immediately. Daniel & Charlotte go to the medical station too, but Juliet gives Jin a gun and tells him to shoot either of them if they try to run.

Back in the jungle, Sawyer yells at Miles and tells him not to talk to Claire - he says he has a "20 foot restraining order" against getting near here. Miles gets the warning.

At the beach, Juliet prepares Jack for surgery. Outside the tent, Rose tells Bernard that it's not a coincidence that Jack is sick - "people do not get sick on this island," she says. Jack tells Juliet he wants to be conscious for the surgery, and he wants Kate to hold the mirror for him.

FLASHFORWARD: At work, Jack gets a call from another doctor about "a friend of yours." (He also thinks he sees his dad in the lobby). Jack calls back - it's Hurley; he's not taking his medicine. Jack goes to visit Hurley. Hurley says he believes the Oceanic 6 are actually dead and in heaven now. Hurley says he gets visits from Charlie now, and that Charlie told Hurley to tell Jack "you're not supposed to raise Aaron." Jack goes to leave, and Hurley says Jack will get a visitor soon as well.

At the medical station, Jin, Sun, Daniel, and Charlotte arrive. Jin tells Sun in Korean that he thinks Daniel has a crush on Charlotte, and Charlotte seems to understand what Jin says. Inside the station, Jin says he promises he will get Sun and their baby off the island.

In the jungle, Sawyer, Claire and Miles are walking along when Frank Lapidus appears, looking scared. He tells them to run - Keamy and his men are coming soon. They hide in the bushes and Lapidus convinces the freighter gang to get to the helicopter and leave with the other men (who were injured by the Smoke Monster in the last episode).

At the beach, Jack gets ready to be operated on. He flirts with Kate a little.

FLASHFORWARD: Jack comes home late after seeing Hurley. He proposes marriage to Kate. She accepts.

At the beach, after the medical center, Jin confronts Charlotte - he knows she could understand him when he was speaking Korean. Jin tells her that the only thing he cares about is getting Sun and the baby off the island. Charlotte understands.

Jack is getting operated on, but his pain is massive, so Juliet decides he needs to be anaesthetized into unconsciousness.

FLASHFORWARD: Late at night at work, Jack sees his father again - this time, Christian calls out to him. Suddenly a coworker of Jack's appears, and Jack asks her to give him a prescription of some kind of anti-anxiety medication.

Jack returns home and overhears Kate talking to someone on the phone - he gets very suspicious. Kate says it was a friend, but Jack doesn't believe her. She goes upstairs, and Jack washes down some pills with a beer.

In the jungle, Claire wakes up and finds that Aaron is not with her. She looks up and sees Christian Shephard holding him. She squints and says "Dad?"

At the beach, after surgery, Juliet tells Kate in the tent that Jack and her had a little thing - they kissed. Juliet says she knows Jack really has feelings for Kate. Kate thanks her for telling her the truth and saving Jack's life.

FLASHFORWARD: Kate comes home and finds Jack drunk on the couch. Jack confronts her about the phone call earlier. Kate finally admits she is doing something for Sawyer that she promised she would do for him - he's still on the island.

Jack and Kate fight, and when the topic comes to baby Aaron, Jack screams "You're not even related to him!"

In the jungle, Sawyer notices Claire is missing. Miles tells Sawyer she left with someone she called "Dad." Sawyer is about to beat up Miles, but he hears baby Aaron crying and picks him up. He starts shouting after Claire, who is nowhere to be found.
