She screams at him for having brought her here to talk about the death of Jeremy Bentham and that she has spent 3 years trying to forget what happened on the island.
Jack and Sawyer find Hurley near the entrance to the Orchid, they find Locke at the entrance. Jack is adamant that they should get to the helicopter in order to take everyone from the island. Hurley tells him that Keamey and his team have captured Ben and are taking him there.
Back on the freighter Desmond discovers that there is something transmitting on board. He enlists the help of Michael and Jin to find the source. They find a huge quantity of explosives in the armoury of the boat, connected to a radio receiver. Desmond claims that when something or someone sends a signal the bomb will go off. Michael is able to buy some time by spraying the battery connected to the bomb with liquid nitrogen.
Keamy is leading Ben back to the helicopter when Kate runs into their path. She says she is running from Ben's people. Keamy's men search the area and are ambushed by Ben's people who kill them one by one. Keamy runs after them, he begins to fight with Sayid when he is shot I the back by Richard Alpert. Kate says that in exchange for leading Keamy to them they would be free to leave the island. Ben agrees.
We flash forward to the mental institution where Hurley receives a surprise visit from Walt. He says that he waited for one of the Oceanic 6 to visit him, and that the only visitor he had was Jeremy Bentham. Walt asks why the Oceanic 6 are lying. Hurley tells him it is protect everyone left on the island.
Back at the Orchid entrance Locke tells Jack to reconsider staying on the island, and that if he leaves it will eat him alive until he returns. Jack sneers at the idea but is told by Locke that if he leaves he must lie about the island to protect its existence. Ben rushes in, he tells Jack that Kate and Sayid are waiting at the helicopter. Ben reveals a hidden elevator to take them down to the Orchid station. Jack leaves to follow the helicopter. Faraday returns for the next group of survivors to take to the freighter. He tells Charlotte to leave the island, but she is reluctant stating that she has been searching for where she was born. Faraday takes the boat back out to the freighter. Ben begins to get to work in the Orchid station, he gives Locke an orientation video to watch to explain what the station is. The familiar face of Dr Edgar Halliwax explains that the 6th Dharma station, the Orchid is not a botanical research unit has indicated, he tells the viewer that he is sorry that they have had to deceive their family and colleagues. The unique properties of the island have created a kind of Casimir effect, allowing them to conduct unique experiments in both space and time. Halliwax points to a chamber known as the vault into which he begins to demonstrate how he will send a rabbit 100 milliseconds ahead in four dimensional space. It is stressed that metal objects should never be placed in the vault. The rabbit will disappear for a brief moment, but just as the experiment is about to happen the video cuts off. Locke sees Ben frantically placing metal objects in the vault, he is about to remind Ben what the video says on this subject when they hear the elevator move. Ben asks for his weapon.
Michael, Desmond and Jin are stumped by the complexity of the bomb and cannot figure how to defuse it. Michael tells them that he is running out of liquid nitrogen to freeze the battery, he suggests that everyone should start getting off the freighter.
Back at the Orchid, the elevator doors open to reveal a very much alive Keamy who begins beckoning to Ben to come out. Ben is hiding in a cupboard watching him. Keamy shouts that he has a dead man's trigger strapped to his arm. If his heart stops beating it will detonate a bomb back on the freighter which will kill all on board. Ben jumps out and begins hitting him furiously over the head. He then takes Keamy's knife and stabs him the chest screaming that he killed his daughter. John tries to pull him off telling him that he is going to kill everyone on the boat.
Hurley and Sawyer join Sayid and Kate at the helicopter, Kate and Sawyer have a ‘moment'. Sawyer helps Lapidus saw off the handcuffs in time for Jack to arrive. They all climb on and fly upwards. Once high above the island Lapidus discovers a fuel leak on the helicopter and that they will have to land back on the island. Jack insists that they fly to the freighter but Lapidus tells them they will never make it unless they loose a few hundred pounds on board. Sawyer looks deep in thought then whispers something into Kate's ear. He then gives her an intensely passionate kiss then in one swift motion he breaks away and jumps off the helicopter into the sea. He begins to swim to shore.
