Missing People

The charity Missing People provide support for missing children, vulnerable adults and families left in limbo. The charity offers families of the missing specialist advice, practical support and also searches - securing publicity that could end years of heartache. Missing children face many dangers from physical and sexual abuse to sleeping rough. Through The Runaway Helpline, Missing People can provide these young people with a lifeline of hope.

And it’s not just children in desperate situations you can help; Missing People enables vulnerable adults to pass a Message Home. Through this service, the charity gives adults the opportunity to take the first step to making contact, while reassuring those left behind that they are safe.

Missing People relies on information from the public to help find missing people. If you have a sighting or information about a missing person, please call the charity confidentially on Freefone 0500 700 700 or visit www.missingpeople.org.uk/sightings. All the information received is passed to the police to follow up, but your identity will remain confidential unless you state otherwise. Missing People may contact you to follow up sightings.

Is someone you love missing?

When someone goes missing, the effect it can have on their family or loved ones can be devastating: they can be left feeling angry, depressed, bewildered and often with a sense of bereavement. Missing People offers support, advice and practical help to those left behind at this difficult time.

From experience, Missing People know that people go missing for many different reasons. It may be because they feel they have no choice or that their family may be ‘better off’ without them. The act of going missing is often preceded by stressful life events such as trauma, unhappiness, depression, financial worries, abuse, arguments or domestic violence. Some people go missing for a day, some for years; some return and sadly, some never do. Some people want to be found, some do not. Some only know they want to be found when they hear that someone is looking for them. If you have a family member missing please contact the charity Missing People either via enquiries@missingpeople.org.uk or Freefone 0500 700 700
